Kathleen Wollenberg

My painting style is impressionistic, rubbing elbows with realism at times. Oil painting with a loose hand excites my soul. My portfolio includes studio as well as plein air paintings. A certain something catches my eye. It is oftentimes in my peripheral. The way light passes across an object or, the vibrancy of a hue in a particular instant, grabs my attention. It produces a "will you look at that" moment. I embrace this revelation and capture the sliver of time on my canvas. My paintings are ever evolving. I desire to work in a way that captures the personality of every scene, every object and every person as I see them in the moment, as they too are ever evolving. While painting, I find there is a rhythm produced with each brushstroke. This rhythm is what brings me back for more. Creative freedom keeps me exited about each painting.
